First photography contest of the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian
Old San Juan, Puerto Rico – January 12 to 15, 2012
For photography lovers, the organizing committee Comité Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián joins Fotomission to celebrate a photography contest with the objective of capturing the cultural expression of the Fiestas.
Fotoencuentro Calle San Sebastián 2012 started with the opening of the Fiestas on Thursday January 12 and ended on Sunday the 15th.
The Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián are characterized for having several cultural activities like the procession, the parade of figures with large heads, the Fiestas dedication, the arts and crafts fair and the celebration of a commemorative mass.
Winners:

First Place $250 to Rene Dietrich - for his excellent composition of the saint leaving the church during the procession.

Second Place $150 to Minette Darmanin - documented the crowd in movement and the ruins where the images of Rafaela Balladares and Ricardo Alegría (to whom the Fiestas were dedicated) were hung.

Third Place $100 to Sigrid Rodriguez - photographed the comparsa and the colorful crowd that followed.
The event provided photography aficionados the opportunity to put their knowledge to practice during four days the cultural activities creating interesting photos, of artistic beauty and documentary value.
The photos will be exhibited at the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de PR y el Caribe during summer, and permanently on this page.
Prizes/Sponsors
$500 in cash – Comité Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián
Winning photos enlarged and mounted, and t-shirts – Fotomission
Registration fee $20 (submit up to 3 photos). The first 10 to register receive a hat with the embroiled FOTOMISSION PHOTOGRAPHER logo.
